BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
May 14, 1952

MINUTES
The minutes of the April 23 board meeting were read and
approved.
BILLS
On motion by Mrs. Harrison, seconded by Mr. Burns, the
bills in the amount of 01,185.39 were ordered paid.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
The librarian's report for the month of April was accepted
and the financial statement for the month was approved.
OLD BUSINESS
The librarian reported that Miss Welbasky received with
gratification her appointment as Assistant Librarian
beginning May 1.
Civil Service. The Civil Service Commission will conduct
an examination for Senior Librarian on June 9.
Budget. The tentative budget amounting to 024,773 (without
salaries) was approved for submittal to the City Council.
The Listening Room, the Young People's Room, and the
Children's Room program of remodelling is still under
consideration.
COP M[JNICATIONS
The following letters were sent by the Board: A letter
of congratulation was sent to Mr. Byrd on his appointment
as Mayor of our City. Mrs. Kirkbride was sent a note of
appreciation for the gift of $500 to the Library. The
Library's thanks were extended to Mr. and Mrs. Tayler for
their generous gift of musical recordings.
NEW BUSINESS
Changing of hours and Sunday closing were tabled to the
next meeting.
Mrs. Johnson explained the Children's Summer Reading
Roundup which Miss Welbasky will conduct during the summer.
Mrs. Johnson also stated that Les Morgan, Chairman of the
Library Committee of the City Council, sent his regrets that
due to the fact that he had just returned from a very
tiring business trip he could not attend the meeting, but
he will endeavor to attend a meeting of the Library Board
soon.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned on motion by Mr. Crosby, seconded
by Mr. Burns,
