HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Packet - LB - 1953.06.10 Minutes of the meeting of the BURLITZAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD May 13, 1953 Trustees present: President Harrison, Mr. Crosby, Mr. Burns MINUTES The minutes of the previous meeting of April 8, 1953, were read and approved. BILLS On motion by &r. Burns, seconded by Mr. Crosby, the bills in the amount of $2,215.23 were ordered paid. LIBRARIANS REPORT The librarian's report was accepted and the financial statement was approved. OLD BUSIEESS The approved budget was again reviewed, and the notes submitted by the librarian criticised. NY1f BUSIFFSS After some discussion, it was decided that the librarian sho, ald: use his judgment in regard to the appointing of a senior librarian at the Branch. It was thought that the position should be one of a senior librarian due to the constantly increasing responsibility necessitated by the ever growir_g volume of busi-ess at the Branch. Approxi- mately one third of the total circulation is now at the Branca Library. As that section of th- cit)* develooes, it will no doubt grow even larger; and the norscr who is in charge nu.st be an experienced librarian who is capable of making independent, administrative decisions. The continued opening of the Branch. It was decided that the Branch should remain open from one until nine, Monday through Friday, as there is a considerable number of people who would use the library between six and seven, when it has been customarily closed. Further study will be made to see whether the library could profitably be kept open until nine on 6aturdays and also be opened on Sundays as the brain Library is. ADJOURNMEPlT On a motion by Asir. Burns, seconded by Mr. Crosby, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, G. P.
