II. °-Roll Call Trustees Present: Betsy Corcoran, Deborah Griffith, Katie McCormack, Lisa Rosenthal, Sandy Towle Foundation Board: Patty Anixter, Pat Nicholson Staff Present: Pat Harding, City Librarian Sidney Poland,Recorder Amy Gettle, Circulation Manager Public Present: Jeff Griffith, David Ju, Lilly Ju III. Library Board of Trustees April 17, 2012 Minutes The April 17, 2012 minutes were approved as written. M/S/C (Rosenthal/Griffith) IV. Millennium Campaign Presentation (Anixter, Nicholson,Harding) A motion was passed to move the Millennium Project discussion to the fourth item on the agenda. M/S/C (Rosenthal/Griffith) Pat Nicholson, Foundation Advisory Board member and professional campaign project coordinator, presented a power point which set forth a format for launching the capital campaign. Pat Nicholson is enthusiastic about this project and emphasized that in order to ensure a successful campaign "planning is everything." The first step is to form a core committee that would set the course of the project. Members of this committee will discuss potential committee, members and donors, and donor recognition. Michael Ma, Patty Anixter, Lisa Rosenthal, Pat Nicholson and Sandy Towle have chosen to serve on the core committee. V. Reports A. City Librarian's Report Highlights 1. Personnel AFSCME and its members within the City of Burlingame have reached agreement on their contract which now permits City departments to begin hiring for vacant positions. Jeannine Culligan has been appointed to the position of Library Assistant II and will work in .,Administration and Circulation. 2. Web Site - Cathy Somerton, Maryam Refahi, and Jeff Mikulik have . created a new, dynamic and user friendly website. Please check it out and give us your feedback. 3. Children's Author Program —Trenton Lee Stewart, who writes.the Mysterious Benedict Society, spoke to an audience of 210 children and parents on May 3rd about his works. Books Inc. partnered with the Library for this event and sold out of Mr.. Lee's latest book "The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict." B. Library Foundation 1. Book & Author Luncheon - This year the annual Book and Author Luncheon exceeded all expectations from choice of venue, pre-event for Escoffier members, food selection, raffle items and authors extraordinaire. Comments from all guests were extremely positive and many expressed to Foundation members that they will return next year. 2. June Book Sale -Dates for the June book sale are June 14th through June 17th. L VII. Unfinished Business A. Budget Update Final budget session will be held May 16th in the Lane Room. Pat Harding will forward the agenda to the Trustees. B. Meeting Dates -The July meeting will remain as scheduled. The Trustees approved a motion to place the August meeting date.on the June agenda. Acknowledgement Event Trustee Corcoran proposed that the Trustees fund an appreciation event for Maryam Refahi in acknowledgement of her award winning art work. M/S/C (Corcoran/McCormack) IX. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:30pm. The next meeting of the Library Board of Trustees will be held June 19th at 5:30pm in the Library Conference Room.
