VIII. New Business
A. Graphic Novel Presentation Amy Pelman
Amy Pelman spoke to the Trustees about the purpose of graphic novels
in the Library collection. A graphic novel is a format that tells stories
through the medium of art. This medium improves vision comprehension
and often turns reluctant readers into enthusiastic readers as well as,
encouraging younger readers to explore more challenging works such as
the classics. The high demand for graphic novels especially by teens and
younger children helps to increase the Library's circulation statistics.
Graphic novels are available in the adult, teen and children's collection.
B. The Trustees unanimously approved the revised Collection Development
Policy as drafted. M/S/C (McCormack/Corcoran)
