Fichtner. 1,11 U TES: The r:inutes of the previous meeting of December 10, 1952 were read and approved. BI LLS: On motion by 11.-Ir. Crosby, seconded by 11ir. Fichtner, the bills in the amount of x,227.26 were ordered paid. TUBRARM- 11 S REPORT: The Librarian's report was accepted and the financial statement was approved. OLD BUSIAi LSS After considerable discussion of the light replacement situation, it was decided that the blueprint of the scaffolding recommended by 11r. Marr be filed and that funds be reauestec'. in the next bud-et for its construction. This will allow the replacement of the fluorescent tubes to be carried on under safe conditions. The Librarian stated that the shelving purchased from the Arses Co. had been erected in the basement and that the crowded condition of our old magazines had been alleviated. Branch Drain: The Librarian also stated that at no time this year has there be;n any water under the Branch Library. lie has kept a careful check on the condition, and he believes that as long as the soil level on the left side of the Branch is kept below the stucco level and the drain maintained unobstructed it will be un- necessary to provide title or any other method for removal of the eater. It seen<s if a simple ditch is maintained free from rubbish or debris, there will be no water under the Branch. C 02'.ZIU`i I C A^1 I OY S Two bids were received for the replacement of the fluores- cent lights: but as this condition is no longer pressing, a letter will be written thanking, them for their interest. 2 1;moi= BJ S1 Ii ESS The Board agreed to accept Firs. i,antivellTs resignation -effective as soon as a. letter to that effect has been received by 1r. Lechich. Attempted burglary of the Library's funds. Mr. Lechich stated that the po--oson or persons vho tried uncessfully to rifle the cash drac,er had entered the building by cut- ting a screen in the basement and opening a transom :°�in- dotiRl. After failing to open the cash drawer, he had jumped fro:. the rear windo•a in the Librarian's office to the ground. It was sug;-ested that perhaps a second-hand safe might be purchased to keep the current cash Hand of the library in as well-as some of its more valuable books.
