February 11, 1953
Trustees present: President Harrison, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Crosby,
Mr. Burns.
P+INUTES:
The minutes of the previous meeting of January 14, 1953
were read and ammended to include the report made by Mr.
Fichtner concerning the replacement of the fluorescent
tubes.
B ILLS
On motion by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mrs. Johnson, the
bills in the amount of . 1,480.49 were ordered paid.
LIBRARIANtS REP)RT:
The Librariants report was accepted and the financial
statement was approved.
)LD BUSINESS:
Due to the absence of Mr. Fichtner, the discussions
of the planting path and the step ladder were put off
until the next meeting.
C OM1,11UNICAT IONS:
A letter of resignation was received from Mrs. Bertha
I,ianwell Sellar.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Librarian reported that progress was being made in
the plans for California Library Week, March-8-14.
Open house is to be held, and the following programs
are scheduled: A lecture by Claude Petty, PHD, on the
"Discovery o£. Calif.orniana;" an introductory talk and
a sample demonstration of the Great Books by Robert
Hemenway and George Halerow, Great Book leaders in the
Bay Area; "Aisle Say About the Theater," a critics
humorous reminiscences, by Sheridan Bickers; and a
Mystery Forum with David Dodge, Mrs. Bernice Cresap, and
Jack Sheridan participating.
There was some discussion concerning the proceedure to
be followed when a patron insists that he has returned
a book that we can not locate in the Library. No con-
clusion was reached. However, the minutes of past
meetings are to be consulted to see if any decisions have
ever been made in the past on the subject.

on a motion by Mr. Crosby, seconded by Mr. Burns, the
meeting was adjourned.
