Burns MINUTES The minutes of the previous meeting of January 20, 1954 were read and approved. BILLS The bills in the amount of a,629.€39 were ordered paid. Burns, the meeting; was adjourned. BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY Librarian' s report on Activities in the Library February 18, 1954 - March 16, 1954 Circulation The circulation has continued holding its own, with a slight increase over the previous month, its per centage being 11i per cent better than the previous year. Exhibit The library has on display at present a collection of fans loaned by Mr. Leonardo A. Gualtieri of Burlingame. Librarianst Meeting The Librarian attended a meeting of the Central California Library Executives Association. Dr. Conmy of the Oakland Public Library read a well written paper on the permissibility of cooperation of adjoining libraries, clarifying in the minds of those present the degree of cooperation which could be exercised. within the statute limitations of our state. Several other pertinent subjects were discussed, such as the future of the group's new radio program and the possible sponsorship of certain educational TV programs. Juvenile Department On February 24, 1954, at 3:00 p.m. , a Brownie troop from the second grade at McKinley School visited the library. They were told stories and shown .a puppet show. March 15, 1954, at 10:00 a.m. , a group from the Coyote Point Nurser School visited the library. The children ranged in age from 21 to 3J years old, and for many it was a first visit to any library. Miss Welbasky will attend an all-day meeting of Children' s Librarians at the Oakland Public Library, March 18, 1954. She will have five books to review for the group. There will also be an institute on Story-Telling in the afternoon led by Mrs. Marian Garthwaite, who used to work part-time at this library. The circulation in the department is increasing. We can tell not only by the figures, but by the fact that we have to use '\. more than one tray for the book cards at the circulation desk now.
