Librarianst Meeting
The Librarian attended a meeting of the Central California
Library Executives Association. Dr. Conmy of the Oakland Public

cooperation of adjoining libraries, clarifying in the minds of
those present the degree of cooperation which could be exercised.
within the statute limitations of our state. Several other
pertinent subjects were discussed, such as the future of the
group's new radio program and the possible sponsorship of certain
educational TV programs.
Juvenile Department
On February 24, 1954, at 3:00 p.m. , a Brownie troop from the
second grade at McKinley School visited the library. They
were told stories and shown .a puppet show.
March 15, 1954, at 10:00 a.m. , a group from the Coyote Point
Nurser School visited the library. The children ranged in age
from 21 to 3J years old, and for many it was a first visit to
any library.
Miss Welbasky will attend an all-day meeting of Children' s
Librarians at the Oakland Public Library, March 18, 1954. She
will have five books to review for the group. There will also
be an institute on Story-Telling in the afternoon led by Mrs.
Marian Garthwaite, who used to work part-time at this library.
The circulation in the department is increasing. We can tell
not only by the figures, but by the fact that we have to use
'\. more than one tray for the book cards at the circulation desk now.
