Cargill Trustees absent: Mr. Burns, Mr. Crosby Committeewoman present: Mrs. Thayer MINUTES The minutes of the previous meeting July 13, 1955 were read and approved. BILLS On a motion made by Mr. Cargill and seconded by Mrs. Cohendet the bills in the amount of $882.37 were ordered paid. LIBRARIANtS REPORT The librarian's report was accepted and the financial statement was approved and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS The installation of an additional telephone line with unlisted number for the use of the librarian and an extension in the workroom was discussed. It was decided that there would be nearly enough money received from the public telephone booths to pay for this. It was also decided to have the lighting of the outside booth installed by a private contractor, in lieu of the fact that the city electrician has been unable to install it due to the pressure of his business. It was moved by Mr. Cargill and seconded by Mrs. Cohendet that the librarian be instructed. to have a phone installed and also to have the outside telephone booth connected with the library lighting system by a private contractor if necessary. Changes. The librarian will contact the Civil Service Commission and with the help of the City Attorney and the City Clerk will formulate a new designation for various positions in the library in order to more accurately describe the functions of those positions that have hitherto been designated as Junior and Senior librarian. NEW BUSINESS Gift. The sum of $244.19 was received as an additional gift from the Kirkbride estate and ;dr. Cargill was in- structed to write a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Kirk- bride. Friends of the Library. Mrs. Cohendet and Mr. Crosby were appointed to cooperate with the librarian in forming a group to be called the Friends of the Library. This group would perform certain social functions and would include people other than citizans of Burlingame who are interested in the support and well being of the Burlingame Public Library. Dedication of the Flag. The American Legion Auxiliary on Oct. 18 at an open house will present a flag to the library and will honor the past and present members of the Page 2 library board at a_tea. Mr. Cargill was instructed to contact Mr. Miller in regards to past trustees who might k_v still be alive. Clianke of time. On a motion by Mr. Cargill and seconded by [irs. Cohendet the meeting time of the Burlingame Public Library Board of Trustees will be at 8:00 P. M. on the third Wednesday of each month.
