The minutes of the previous meeting September 21, 1955 were
read. and approved.
BILIS
On a motion made by ialr. Crosby and seconded by 'r. Cargill
the bills in the amount of 5;:2,539,32 were ordered paid.
LIBRARIAEIS REEFORT
The librarian's report was accepted and the financial state-
ment was approved and placed on file.

Several people are being contacted concerning the Friends of
the Library.
The letter to the Hillsborough City Council is being formulated
i with the cooperation of Hillsborough residents retarding the
use of the library by Hillsborou residents.

The _problem of adding shelf space was discussed and this study
will be made to determine the cost of adding additional stacks.

Convention. The librarian attended the general session of the
California Library Association Cornventljn at ban Jose and as
many of the specialized group sassions as it was possible to
attend.
Diss .Larraek and airs. i,evering also attended some
of the iaaatings.
The contacts ,.lade with several of the profession were
most stimulating and triose with the Sponsor oma' ttte Frien.is of

Local meeting. The library was Dost to the local "Peninsuia
Librarian' s " group which i4et iii the isoa.rd roo!ri. Various local
problems were discuss-d including the cooparatiort ori iiscarding
last coj)ies; exchanging info.ranation on gift collections; co-
operative reading lists for children.

gave an inspiring talk "The Coiapany of Children" on Friday nigiht.

library and are given their first library cards, it starts a
good habit to be followed in t►ie years to com,,�. Good results are
achieved from such visits.
Another exhibit of cnildron's art wook is hanging in the
C1,111dren's room. These pupils are from the -shburn Fine Arts
Stulios under tiie direction of Jacquelline White.
