Councilwoman Mrs. Oscar Thayer was also present.

The minutes of the previous t:7eeting, Feb. 15, 1956 were read and approved.
BILLS
On a mo tion made by _air. Crosby and seconded by sirs. Cohendet the bills
in tho ar.ount ofd ;;2080.05 were ordered paid.

The librarian's report was accepted and the financial statement was approved
and placed on file.
OLD -BUSI ESS
Branch Library. 1--lr. Crosby stated that he had a short meeting with lMr.
r._ i e an—T7557 ,Tann and t1lat he expected to meet with them again in about
two `reeks. He stated that Mr. White seemed to be au Ji-te enthusiastic
about the proposal to use part of the new Elementary School ;rounds for
a Branch Library. T.Ir. Crosby stated that this was after investi�ratinrr
this site and several other sites.
Stack Extension. Col. Norberg appeared before the Board and explained
cr ree ossi'`b�e brays for enlarging the stacks. The librarian gave the
cost for shelving estimated by the gimes Company, and stated that further
study would be made to determine the approximate cost and the possible
sources of funds.
Friends of the Library Group, Pars. Cohendet stated that she and had : et with
tZe _1 hrar an'anFiaE—ff-iey __ad attended a meeting in San Francisco on
the Fii-ends of the Library Group, and that she would, at the next neeting,
report on the progress made.

Subrr!ission of a preliminary bud et was discussed and the amount of
possible surplus and its sources were outlined.
