CIRCULATIOA .
The increase of 2.2% this uronth in circulation does not r:flect
the extensive use of magazin.s which the school students have
been consulting for their term papers, particularly students
from Capuchino. Soup method of counting such usage should be
instigated mostly to show the incr:as3d use in the library of
unbound periodicals.
The librarian studied several proposals for charging non-residents
for service by. contracting r:ith the city of their r,sidence for
payment. The pro;)osal r.hich was discuss-ed With the City :yianager
of Hillsborough is as follows:
The total budget expenditure $70,460.00 vias divided by the
number of patrons (10,400) . This gave us a cost of $6.77 per
patron. Tnis was discuss:d as a possible basis for furnishing
library cards to any resident of aillsborough. The library
would bill the City of Hillsborough quarterly or sem i-annuallyv
they in turn would levy a special tax to cover this cost.
This would allow a small beginning and in all probability
would grog, to a thousand or more card hold yrs. Th^ total cost
to the City of Hillsborough would not equal the amount (20,000)
which would be levied by the County provided the City of
Hillsborough was still a is-,mb,r of the county system,

There have been no special classes or events occurring tnis
month. The attendance at the Story Hour has increased, due to
the weather, no doubt.
The librar, tan has been inspecting the book stock and having
,rorn books repaired or rebound, waichever seems the most axpeaient.
