Trustees Absent: Mr. Burns, Mr. Crosby. MINUTES The minutes of the previous meeting, July 18, 1956, were read and approved. BILLS On a motion made by Mr. Cargill, seconded by Mrs. Cohendet, bills in the amount of $2,206.49 were ordered paid. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT The librarian's report was read and accepted, and the financial statement was approved and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS New Branch Site. A letter from the elementary school board was read expressing their interest and wish to cooperate in the selection and acquisition of a site Mr. Lechich is to take Mr. .Cargill to see the sites. Friends of the Library Group. Mr. -Hyler,_ who was contacted by Mr. Lechich, has expressed his interest and willingness to help in the organization of the Friends. Mr. Lechich stated that he believedthereis a sufficient number of people in the community interested in `literature and music to form an active group if a leader with suitable background and free time ,can be found. Budget. As the budget has not been received, no action was taken. Non-resident Membership by contract. - Mr. Lechich stated that he had met with th city manager of Hillsborough, Mr. Stiene, who believes that some working agreement may be evolved. He requested statistical information as to the use of the library, and other data pertinent to the question, for further study. Communications. Lechich Clerk of the Board MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD AUGUST 29, 1956 Trustees Present: Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Cohendet, Mr. Crosby, Mr. Cargill, Mr. Burns. Trustees Absent: None. OLD BUSINESS Salary Budget Changes. A special meeting of the Burlingame Public Library Board was called to discuss the salary and budget changes under consideration by the City Council. After discussing these matters, it was moved by Mrs. Cohendet, seconded by Mr. Crosby, and the motion carried, that: The Trustees of the Burlingame Public Library express their approval of the over-all salary increases and adjustments contemplated by the City Council and the Civil Service Commission; and that the Board further favors an adjustment of the library tax, if necessary, to provide specifically for such increases to library employees.
