Edwards. Trustees Absent: Mr. Crosby MINUTES The minutes of the previous meeting of December 19, 1956 were read and approved. BILLS On a motion made by F?r. Edwards and seconded by Mrs. Cohendet, bills in the amount of X2,419.02 were ordered paid. LIBRARIAN'S RE'PORT The Librariants report was read and accepted and the financial statement was approved and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS New Branch Site. Mr. Edwards was appointed by the Chairman to replace Mr. Burns on the co ee fcr the procurement of a site for a new branch library in the Mills Estate area; the Librarian is to brief Mr. Edwards. Non-Resident Membership by Contract. The Librarian reported that he had written a letter of explanation Congressman Younger in regard to the Library Service Act, and possible benefits that might concur to this library. A copy of this letter was sent to the State Librarian and to Lrx. Stiene, City Manager of Hills- borough. Stack Addition. The Chairman appointed Mr. Edwards and T&s. Cohendet to act as a connittee to expedite the proposed stack addition to the Main Library. Library Aid. It was moved by TIW. Edwards and seconded by Nrs. Cohendet that the library request a Civil Service examination for a library aid, to be held in April 1957. Stand-b Pump. It was moved by Mr. Cargill and seconded by lir. Edwards that the L1 r`arian purc ase a water ejector pump if he deems it advisable, to be so in- stalled in the sump in the boiler room. In the event of failure of the electric pump, an ejector pump would take over. A.DJOURNT,W T Mrs. Harrison thanked Nr. Schwalm for his attendance. The Lions Club finishod tho shelvin3 for the Lionis Den and refinished all of the older shelves in the room, The now catalo for the children's section of the Branch has been received. This will now allow the complete filing of cards in one place The lattor part of the alDhabot had been kept in the workroom, as the old card cabinet file could not hold all the cards. The now bulletin board has been installed in the entrance to the ain Library. This was purchased for approximately one-half of the cstirzated price. `Iii roof on the southeast winC of the library was replaced before the recent hear rains. On January 22nd two first Daae classes visit-od and on s-'ebruary 11th two second grade classes v those of 'Irs. Steele and :rs . ;iopburn visited the Library. Foltz appeared on ILS, Channel 9, the educational station, on February 20 . ;svery vaeck at 4:30 a regular story hour is held. The stories are told by Josephino .-ardiner, a professional story-teller.
