Mi UTES OF THE 112KET?SIG OF THE BURLINGA iIE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD APRIL 17, 1958 Trustees Present! N11r. Crosby, ars. Harrison, Mrs. Cohendet, Mr. Edwards, Mr. Moody. HDIUTES The minutes of the previous meeting of '`arch 20, 1958, were read and approved. BILLS On a motion by T,Ir. Edwards, seconded by firs. Harrison, bills in the amount of r'2,451.89 were ordered Maid. LIBRARIAN IS REPORT The Librariants report was read and accepted. IOi 'I THLY FINANCIAL STATEI:MTT The financial statement was approved and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS Yew Brach Site. in answer totherequest by the Elenentary School Board in regard to a joint meeting, it was moved by Mr. Moody and seconded by 'Mrs. Harrison_, that the { Library Board meet with the Elementary School Board on the 3rd Wednesday in 11ay, or at any other convenient date to be set by the Elementary School Board, to discuss future plans for the branch site. Stacks extension. Discussion of the stacks extension was tabled until a discussion on the propos—ell-budget. KEW BUSIKESS Budget. After a long arfl serious discussion, itwasmoved by 1W. Moody that the budget oe approved as prepared in the amount of X92,436, seconded by r. Edwards and carried unanimously. It was moved by 1'_r. Moody, seconded by Mr. Edwards that the bud met as prepared and approved by the Board be submitted to the City Council. It was moved by Mrs. Harrison, seconded by Mr. Moody, that the Council be asked for a sinking find to be derived from a 10 cent additional library tax, proceeds of which would be used for major capital improvements. In a discussion of the above motions it was brought out that the Board wished the City Council to be _so informed of its action. Chante of meetinrr time. Resolution: It was introduced by Mr. Moody who moved its passage, seconded by rdirs. Harrison, and unanimously adopted, that the by-laws be so amended as to read; "ARTICLE IV Section 1. The regular meetings of the Board of Library trustees shall be held on the third -Wednesday of each month, at a place and time to be determined by the Board." ADJOURHPE13T On a motion by vIr. PoltZ attended the Golden Gate Dsitrict, moeting of the California Library Association hold at the San Francisco State College, I.iay 100 1958. She also attended the meeting of the Children�s Librarians of ITorthern California at thQ San Francisco Public Ubrary, I:Iay 15, 1958. The books that were loaned on long=terra Loan to the Coolidge and Roosevelt Schools for their P.T.A. libraries, were returned and showed a good circulation since they were taken .in February. It is hoped that the schools vrill grant to do this again no;ft terra, with some other schools particiw patingo Tho Su,_rior Road.0-ia Club will start : ne IG. The statewide theme will be Suokoy the Lear. Th© California Department of Uatural Resources has provided pins with Smokoy+s picture one 'booklets to record the books road dur1n the suimlor; a aeubership card vrlth Smokeyvs paw print on; and a Reading Club cortificate.
