Mr. Lechich, Mrs. Levering, miss Marrack and Mr. Finney attended all or part of the sessions. Mrs. Cohendet attended the conference in her capacity as President of the Trustee Section, She presided at the Trustees Section meetings and attended the sessions of the CIA Board. The theme of the conference "Books Determine" was well developed in its many aspects by authors, illustrators, fine printers, book collectors, public officials and librarians. In this library we have always emphasized "Books Determine", that is why in such check lists as Dickinson, "The World's Best Books", we have over 2,800 of the three thousand listed, and those we do not have are unattainable at reasonable prices. NEWSNOTES OF JUVENILE DEPARTMENT The four-year-old group of children from the St. Paul's Nursery School, under the direction of Mrs. George Mangis, visits the childrents department every Friday morning from 10:45--11.15. About 17 children are in this group. Mrs. Foltz tells a story, and the rest of the time is spent in browsing. Four mothers accompany the group each time. Mrs. Foltz attended the Association of Children's Librarians of Northern California meetings of both October and November, at the San Francisco Public Library. Mrs. Bergsing, at the Easton Drive Branch Library, has been having success with instructing classes in the use of the library. The fifth grade class from Coolidge School makes a weekly visit for her instruction. Classes from Our Lady of Angels and from Roosevelt School have also visited Easton Drive Branch.
