Stac2s` pension. The Librarian explained that funds derived from unexpended building
Tu-nds (C-BO) o $998.50, and with the surplus 1958-59 tax reserve in the amount of
$1,998.00, total $2,996.50, could be used for the installation of two bays of stacks
on the upper (second floor) and 439 shelves. He stated that the full upper floor
could be completed and all necessary shelving for present needs, for an expenditure
of $5,433. He also stated that an amount of $480 for 160 extra shelves would be
desirable, but this could be purchased out of next year's budget. This would allow
an expansion of the stacks in such a way that no major shift would take place for
several years. If the first suggestion is followed, Plan 1, there would be two
moves necessary and no use made of the basement stacks. After some discussion, it
was moved by Trustee Moody that vie request the City Manager's opinion as to whether
or not we should proceed with Plan No. 2 as presented in the Librarian's statistical
analysis, and that this analysis be made a part of the board meeting minutes of
January 19, 1960. Seconded by Trustee Crosby and passed.
