Cohendet, Trustee Harrison, Trustee Crosby, Trustee Moody Trustees Absent: Trustee Edwards MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting of Jan. 19, 1960 were read and approved. BILLS On a motion by Trustee moody, seconded by Trustee Crosby, bills in the amount of ,p2,035.11 were ordered paid. LIBRAIAIAN t S REPORT T e L rarian s report was read and accepted. MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT The fi.`i- statement was approved and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS Stacks -Rfe`nsion. The Librarian stated that he had consulted with the City Manager as Eo w e _er or not the second floor stacks should be finished in accordance with Plan 2, as shown in the minutes of the previous Board meeting. After the consultation, the City Manager thought it most desirable to proceed with Plan 2. It was moved by Trustee Crosby to proceed with. Plan 2 as outlined in the minutes of January 19, 1960, seconded by Trustee 'Moody and carried. Installation of Drain. The Librarian explained that due to water seepage around the boller -and-T-n-t-lie room adjacent to the boiler, that it would be desirable to install, if possible, a pipe from the sump of the elevator shaft connecting to the French drain field under the new stacks. He stated also that there was certain seepage due to the surface runoff from the unconnected downspout into the sumps which drain the French drains. It is the contention of the Architect and the Contractor that any seepage will be stopped once the outside sumps are sealed off from the French drain and direct flow of surface water underneath the slab is no longer permitted. The Librarian stated that the drain had been installed and all seepage had ceased. Grill Work in Closed Stack Area. The Librarian explained that in order to close off certain parts of the stat s t- at a number of grills would be necessary. On a motion by Trustee Harrison, seconded by Trustee Moody, it was moved that the Librarian be authorized to purchase the necessary grills to enclose certain stack areas of both old and new stacks, and 'earried. N"EXIl BUSINESS Open House. The Librarian stated that as April 3 to April 9 is Library !geek, it would e es ra le to hold an Open House as at this time the library program should be completed and in partial use. He stated that the Friends of the Library would co- operate, and that we might have a string quartet from Mercy High. All present agreed to be in attendance if possible. Payment of Contract. The Librarian stated that since the completion date of the Contract' cannot Be in effec until additional installation of the upstairs stacks, which is beyond the present contract completion date, the Architect and the Librarian agreed that in order to be fair to the l'orris Daley Const. Co. it would be desirable to giant the contractors additional moneys up to the final 10 percent. After some discussion it was moved by Trustee Moody that the City Council be requested for permission to grant the contractor additional moneys up to the final 10 percent for actual comple- tion of the building.
