OLD BUSINESS
Stacks -Rfe`nsion. The Librarian stated that he had consulted with the City Manager
as Eo w e _er or not the second floor stacks should be finished in accordance with
Plan 2, as shown in the minutes of the previous Board meeting. After the consultation,
the City Manager thought it most desirable to proceed with Plan 2. It was moved by
Trustee Crosby to proceed with. Plan 2 as outlined in the minutes of January 19, 1960,
seconded by Trustee 'Moody and carried.
Installation of Drain. The Librarian explained that due to water seepage around the
boller -and-T-n-t-lie room adjacent to the boiler, that it would be desirable to install,
if possible, a pipe from the sump of the elevator shaft connecting to the French
drain field under the new stacks. He stated also that there was certain seepage
due to the surface runoff from the unconnected downspout into the sumps which drain
the French drains. It is the contention of the Architect and the Contractor that
any seepage will be stopped once the outside sumps are sealed off from the French drain
and direct flow of surface water underneath the slab is no longer permitted. The
Librarian stated that the drain had been installed and all seepage had ceased.
Grill Work in Closed Stack Area. The Librarian explained that in order to close off
certain parts of the stat s t- at a number of grills would be necessary. On a motion
by Trustee Harrison, seconded by Trustee Moody, it was moved that the Librarian be
authorized to purchase the necessary grills to enclose certain stack areas of both
old and new stacks, and 'earried.

e es ra le to hold an Open House as at this time the library program should be
completed and in partial use. He stated that the Friends of the Library would co-
operate, and that we might have a string quartet from Mercy High. All present agreed
to be in attendance if possible.

cannot Be in effec until additional installation of the upstairs stacks, which is
beyond the present contract completion date, the Architect and the Librarian agreed
that in order to be fair to the l'orris Daley Const. Co. it would be desirable to giant
the contractors additional moneys up to the final 10 percent. After some discussion
it was moved by Trustee Moody that the City Council be requested for permission to
grant the contractor additional moneys up to the final 10 percent for actual comple-
tion of the building. Seconded by Trustee Crosby and carried.
