MINUTES
h rra es of the previous meeting of April 19, 1960, were read and approved.
BILLS
On a motion by Trustee Crosby, seconded by Trustee Moody, bills in the amount of
A$2,405.46 were ordered paid.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
The Librariants report was read and accepted.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT

OLD BUSINESS
The tenbave budget was reexamined and studied in detail. The librarian explained
the changes in the Childrents Librarian's status. After a year of effort, an
experienced Children's Librarian has not been obtained and Mrs. Foltz, the present
Children's Librarian, does not wish to continue on a full time basis. He stated
that he has inquired at various library schools for a Junior Librarian graduate of
this yeasts class, who might be interested, and has obtained the application of a
Children's Librarian of Japanese extraction who was rated as third in her graduation
class at University of California. He stated that if we obtained her it would be
necessary to have a more experienced person to supervise her for some time. Mrs.
Foltz has agreed to do this. Therefore, it was necessary to set up a new position
of Junior Librarian for children and to alter the present Childrents Librariants
status to part time. He stated that a Young Adult Librarian might be hired in
event the Children's Librarian resigned.
other items of the budget were discussed and the Librarian stated that he would make
further notes and submit same to the City Manager.
ND7 BUSINESS
Pres. Cohendet announced that there would be a Friends of the Library meeting R4ay 29th
at 3:30 P.74. at which time Martha Selenger will give a piano recital.

The meet ng adjourned on a motion by Trustee Crosby, seconded by Trustee Moody.
