LIBRARIAN O S REPORT
~' July 1960
CIRCULATION
The cl culat°i,an increased 6.1 percent over that of June 1959. The total increase for
the year was 8.6 percent. The circulation increased from 193,264 in 1950 to 290,005 in
1960 - or 50.5 percent. The population increased from 19,886 to 23,944, or 20.4 percento
Therefore, the circulation increased 30.1 percent rwre than the population. This is a
unique situation in the light that our per capita circulation in 1950 was march higher
than mmst libraries and, tierefo re, would not be expected to increase greatly. It is,
however, about 25 percent per capita greater than the next highest Bay Area library
which in 1950 had a Circulation per capita about the same as ours. This .means that
Burlingame citizens a •e using the library at an ever increasing rate compared to other
Bay Area cities.
INVENTORY
The inventory has been completed through the 8114s. Part of the 900 A s Including
Biography have :also been chackod. Possibly by the end of August it will have been
completed.
