MINUTES
Minutes of the previous meeting of June 21, 1960, were read and approved.
BILLS
On a motion by Trustee Crosby, seconded by Trustee Moody, bills in the amount of $5,428.08 were
ordered paid.
LIBRARIANtS REPORT
The Librarian's report was read and accepted.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The financial statement was approved and placed on file.
OLD BUSINESS
Budget. The Librarian stated that the budget in the amount of $122,632 was passed by the City Council
July 18, 1960. Deducting $15,500 (for fines, fees and unexpended balance) will leave a balance of
$107,132 for a tax rate of 21 cents.
The Childrents Librariants Replacement. The Librarian stated that he hoped that the interview on
August 15th will result in a replacement for our Children's Librarian. Mr. Moody suggested the
name of Della Dye, Children's Librarian in Salt Lake City, who wishes to move to the Coast. The
Librarian stated that he would try and contact her.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter addressed to the Library Board by the City Manager, reminding the Board that the Mayor had
requested that a member from each commission attend the council meetings. Pres. Cohendet stated
that she had attended all of the meetings since this request was made. Trustee Moody commented that
as she was perfectly willing to attend the meetings, that the Board would be glad to have her
continue and, if she could not attend, she might try to find some other member who could.
NEW BUSINESS
Board Reorganization. Pres. Cohendet called for nominations for President of the Board and Trustee
Edwards nominated Trustee Crosby, who declined. There was some discussion of rotation of the chair-
mpnship. Trustee Crosby stated that Mrs. Johnson had been president for five or six terms. The
Librarian stated that Mrs. Dodd had been president for many years, possibly twenty. Trustee Moody
spoke to the effect that Pres. Cohendet had attended many meetings, was very much interested in
library activities, and that he wished she would remain in office. Trustee Moody then moved that
Pres. Cohendet be nominated for a third term, seconded by Trustee Crosby. Vote: Pres. Cohendet
was retained by a three to one vote, Trustee Edwards dissenting.
At the next meeting there will be a discussion of change of time for the meetings.

The meeting adjourned on a motion by Trustee Edwards, seconded by Trustee Moody-

A display of great Interest has been arranged of the three juvenile books that local
author, Patricia 'Miles Martin has written and art to be published. in SeptGwber in the lobby
of the library. To have one book published is" .a big a rience, but to have three come out
