MINUTES
Minutes of the previous meeting_; of October 18, 1960, were read and approved as
corrected.
BILLS
On a motion by Trustee Crosby, seconded by Trustee Edwards, bills in the amount
of $4,657,72 were ordered paid.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
The Librarian's report was read and accepted.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The financial statement was approved and placed on file.
OLD BUSINESS
Safe. The librarian stated that a safe has been offered from a local source.
He said that he would determine its suitability for purchase.
Non-resident dues. The librarian stated he had contacted the San Mateo Librarian,
who in turn discussed with her board the possible increase in non-resident dues.
They agreed with the views of the Burlingame Board that the simultaneous announce-
ment of an increase to $10.00 would be a good policy. After some discussion of
Increased library costs, a motion was made by Trustee Moody, seconded by Trustee
Crosby, that the fee for non-residents will be $10.00 beginning January 1, 1961.
Motion carried.
COMMUNICATIONS
_ A letter was received from the Civil Service Commission stating that Miss Clara
L. Palovic had passed the civil service examination for Senior Librarian and had
been placed No. l on the eligible list.
NEW BUSINESS
Appointment of Senior Librarian (Lhildren's Librarian). It was moved by Trustee
Crosby, seconded by Trustee Edwards, that Miss Clara Palovic be appointed Senior
Librarian, effective December 1, 1960. Motion carried.
Art Exhibit. President Cohendet announced that the Friends of the Library are
sponsoring an art exhibit of the works of Nancy McRae on Sunday, November 27.
