January 17, 1961
Trustees Present: Pres. Cohendet, Trustee Crosby, Trustee Moody, Trustee Edwards.
Trustees Absent: Trustee Harrison

Minutes of the previous meeting of December 20, 1960 were read and approved.
ILLS
On a motion by Trustee Crosby, seconded by Trustee Edwards, bills in the
amount of 01,960.94 were ordered paid.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT .
The Librariants report was read and accepted.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATED+E-11T
Me frn-ancial statement was approved and placed on file.
OLD BUSINESS
She. The —Librarian stated that he had not found a safe. He will continue to
look for one.

raor ooni ac�'C.dition. There was a brief discussion as to its desirability. The
Librarian will continue to study the problem.
Salaries. After a brief discussion concerning salaries it was moved by Trustee
Edwards, and seconded by Trustee Crosby that the Librarian make a survey of the
salary situation in preparation for the new budget.
Dues to C. L. A. Trustee Edwards asked the Librarian to request an opinion from
the City Attorney as to the legality of the library paying dues to the Califor-
nia Library Association, if said organization obtains a part-time lobbyist in
Sacramento.
interior Painting. The Librarian stated that he had not received all bids for
the work. On adjournment the board examined the foyer and decided that on•^ coat
of paint would be sufficient.
Friends i;IeetinS. President Cohendet stated that on Jan. 31 at 10 o'clock the
Friends, in conjunction with the Newcomers? Club would hold a panel discussion
on Childrents Reading. Mr. .foody, Mrs. Martin, and .Miss Palovic will partici-
pate in this discussion.
