aa7. BuTg'et. Planning Commission. The Librarian stated that he and Trustee Crosby
attended the Planning Commission meeting which took up the Library proposition for the
purchase of the N.41. 1/4 of Lot 6, Block 3. After a brief discussion of the Library's
position, the Planning Commission members present stated that they thought the Library's
request was justified and would make a final decision as to whether or not our project
would be on the list and in what priority.
Pres. Edwards suggested that the Librarian discuss the subject with the owner of the
property and set up a meeting with the owner as soon as it is advisable. The Librarian
is to report to Pres. Edwards as soon as this has been accomplished.
Children's Librarian. The Librarian stated that firs. Bergsing would take over the duties
of Me MIldrents Li rarian and would continue to supervise the Branch.

the :main and to be in charge of the Branch under Mrs. Bergsing's supervision, is an
acceptable solution to a difficult problem.

LIBffA.RIANIS REPORT
Sept. 19, 1961
CIRCULATION
The circulation gained 1.25 over thz. t' of August 1960. There was a slight damp in
the chi?drenas Circulation at the Mein and a considerable drop in the fiction circulation
at both the main end the Branch, This is usually offset by the increase in the childrenas
circulation at the Main whereas, it shawed a loss of .4 of 15.
STAFF
Miss Joyce Carlson, mho has bean acting circulation assistant for several months,
has left to join the "Peace Corps". She will be missed as one of the most capable and
industrious of the varlaus candidates for the permanent position of Library Assistant.
During the period of her stay she handled over three thousand gift books.-deciding whether
to use them for replacements, n .w titles, or book sale stock. Her background both as a
student of English Literature and as a back store employee helped her in this work. It
will be difficult to find a repla(.;ems"t with the seine qualifications.
