HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - LB - 1962.09.24 MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING
OF THE
BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
September 24, 1962
Trustees Present: President Moody, Trustee Cobendet, Trustee Harrison, Trustee Lynes,
Trustee DeMartini.
Trustees Absent: None
OLD BUSINESS
Salaries. The Librarian presented a statistical tabulation of the salary situation in
the library. It contained two tables showing in a slightly different arrangement the
past, present and requested salaries.
He also called attention to the tabulation presented at the last Board meeting
based upon the form used in the "Classification and Salary Survey prepared by the State
Personnel Service for the city. He stated that he had used present salaries, not last year's
as used in the Personnel Board's table. In an endeavor to make up for the fact that out
of the fifteen libraries listed by the Personnel Survey only data for seven libraries
was given, he included four somewhat comparable libraries not listed by the survey.
After some discussion in regard to the difficulty in hiring and retaining professional
employees, who are in short supply throughout the United States, the Board expressed its
unanimous hope that the City Council might take action to improve the present salary
situation at the Burlingame Library.
NEW BUSINESS
Change of meeting. It was moved by Mr. Lynes, seconded by Mr. DeMartini, that the
Library Board meet on the 3rd Monday of each month. Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Mr. DeMartini, seconded by Mrs. Cohendet, the meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
George Paul Lech3ch__._
