OF THE
BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
October 15, 1962
Trustees Present: President Moody, Trustee DeMartini, Trustee Harrison, Trustee
` Cohendet, Trustee Lynes.
Trustees Absent: None.
MINUTES
Minutes of the previous meeting of September 18, 1962, were read and accepted.
BILLS
On a motion by Mrs. Harrison, seconded by Mr. DeMartini, bills in the amount of
$3,056.47 were ordered paid.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
The Librarian's report was read and accepted.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The financial statement was approved and placed on file.
OLD BUSINESS
Salaries. The Librarian reported that salary adjustments were still under consideration
by the City Council.
Branch site. Trustee Lynes stated that he'll contact the C.T.A. and find out if there
is land available for a branch site or whatever other type of agreement might be reached
with them in regard to a possible branch on their property.
COMMUNICATIONS
NEW BUSINESS
Notice to employers in regard to library rights of employees and to possible assistance
the library may be to their organization. After a brief discussion it was brought out
that this would be a meansof improving the public relations of both the library and the
city and their relationship withthe various employing groups within the city. It was
moved by Mrs. Cohendet, seconded by Mr. DeMartini, that the cover letter and the data
sheet should be distributed to all those concerned.
Polic statement in regard to accumulation of short time sick leave. After a brief
study fo the proposed modification of the Civil Sersice Rules and Regulations in regard
to time lost due to illness of less than 4 hours per day, it was moved by Mr. DeMartini,
seconded by Mr. Lynes, that if less than 1/2 day, that time shall be recorded and deducted whenever
the accumulated amount equals 1/2 day and that this change be submitted to the City
Manager for his approval for transmittance to the Civil Service Commission for its
consideration. A copy of the explanation as submitted for study to the Library Board
shall also be forwarded to the City Manager.
Death in immediate family of staff member. It was moved by Mr. DeMartini, seconded by
Mrs. Cohendet, that the Librarian shall be empowered to take appropriate action to
recognize, in the name of the Board, a death or serious illness to a staff member or
to his immediate family.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Mrs. Harrison, seconded by Mr. Lynes, the meeting was adjourned.

HalloweDen was, celebrated, at both the Main Library and the Br-rash with displays on the
bulletin boards and Hjlloweten stories told at all the story hours. (Attendance at regular
story hour at both libraries has been very satisfactory this fall.' A collection of ceremonial
masks vas set lip in the display casa to cerry the spirit of the season.
