OF THE
BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
January 21, 1963
Trustees Present: Trustee Moody, Trustee Harrison, Trustee Cohendet, Trustee Lynes, Trustee DeMartini.
Trustees Absent: None.
MINUTES
Minutes of the previous meeting of December 17, 1962, were read and approved.
BILLS
On a motion by Mrs. Cohendet, seconded by Mr. DeMartini, the bills in the amount of $2,854.79 were
ordered paid.
LIBRARIANtS REPORT
The Librarian's report was read and accepted.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The financial statement was approved and placed on file.
OLD BUSINESS
Salaries. The Librarian reported that the City Council had requested the City Manager to obtain a
more definite salary schedule from the State Survey. He stated that there was considerable dis-
cussion at both previous City Council meetings and that probably it would be continued at the meeting
scheduled for this same evening.
Branch Site. President Moody requested that Mr. Lynes read excerpts from his letter to the Board
In regard to a new Branch in the Mills Estate. Mr. Lynes excerpts stated that Dr. Cory was quite in
favor for the idea of the Branch on the property of the CTA in the Mills area. He further stated that
the CTA might consider building the structure and renting it to the City. After considerable dis-
cussion, at which time it was brought out that possibly a Branch would not be justified at the present
time, it was moved by Mrs. Harrison, seconded by Mr. DeMartini, that Mr. Moody and Mr. Lynes consult
with Dr. Cory and make further investigation of the possible site and the circumstances for its use
by the Library. The motion was carried. The Librarian stated that if business continues to increase
at the Main Library, it would be quite possible that an additional Branch at this site would relieve
some of the pressure at the Main Library.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter of thanks was received from Miss Harriet Marrack.
A note from Ed Arnold was presented by Mr. DeMartini expressing a wish for the removal of certain
pamphlets said to be in the Library representing a possible subversive peace activities group. No
action was taken as it seemed quite apparent if such pamphlets were present, they were not placed
there for distribution by the Library Staff.
NEW BUSINESS
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Mr. Lynes, seconded by Mrs. Cohendet, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted
