OLD BUSINESS
BranchiSie. Trustee Moody reported that he and Trustee Lynes visited Dr. Corey and
he stateZE Uhat there was a possible site on the CTA property, one on the west side of
the main building, and one on the south east side. He stated that the CTA wished
that if the building were constructed that we have conference rooms, and that they
would lease the building to us for ten years and amortize during that period. Trustee
Moody stated that in his opinion the amortization for ten years would not be desirable,
and that the proposition would never work out for library purposes as the present cost
of land per acre was too high for library use. He stated that this was his opinion
only, as he had not talked to Trustee Lynes, and this was only his thinking.
There was considerable discussion on a possible site located between the Secondary
School and the Benjamin Franklin School on Quesada. The Elementary School Board
realizes that if they build executive offices on this site, due to the possible con-
solidation of the Elementary School District with the Secondary School District, the
offices would no longer be necessary. Therefore, there is the possibility that this
site might be used for the construction of a Branch or, if offices are built, they
might be so constructed that they could be readily converted to library use.
C OMATIJNI CATI ONS
letter o resignation from Ruth Boyce was read. She has been a part-time Library
Aide for several years, and the Secretary of the Board was requested to write a
letter of appreciation.
N&V BUSINESS
e ecora n the Staff Room and Rest Rooms. After studying the bids submitted, the
ow bi der, Svend Ruhne, was awarded the contract. The Librarian was authorized to
proceed with the replacement of the drapes in the Main Room if there was sufficient
funds allowed.

The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Trustee DeMartini, seconded by .Trustee
Cohendet.

of cards by adults is minimal, but perhaps f0" of they thigh school students lend their cards,
though not always to non-residents. One additional registration for eadh new resident by

at this time, and this mans the library use is increasing faster than the population growth.

The Librarian attended the City Council reeting and the Budget meeting. He also attended
the peninsula Library Association meeting in millbrae which was about cooperation with high
schools.
CHILDREN Q S ROOM
The Spelunker Reading Club, sponsored by the Lions Club, is off to a good start with
misplays and photographs furnished by the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the National Speleologi-
cal Society. All of the Elementary School class rooms were visited to announce the reading
program m except for St. Catherinees, who could not fit such visits into their schedule.
At. the Branch the regular story hour has been discontinued for the sumaaer to allow more
time for the Readiatg Cl-ub. (T"he Recreation. Department has a daily program of story telling
at all its agencies), The pry:-School story hour at the Main Library will be continued through
July with the volunteer help of firs. Wilcox from the Alexis Ballet School.
The Lion Gs Den at the Easton Drive Branch Library has been reQently redecorated, thanks
to the Lions Club. Several members of the Club spent an evening painting the room a pleasing
pale celery green. A new light linoleum was laid and the cleaned draperies were rehung. Three
new story book pin-ups have b^nn hung on the walls Cinderella, Bambi, ,and The Three Little
Kitten's. The total effect is one of a fresher, larger and more attractive room which has
pleased the children and caused much factorable cozr.7* t.
Mrs. Bergsing and Mrs. Terpay were guests of the Burlingame writersu Club on May 23rd
when Howard Pease was guest speaker. .yrs. Bergsin.g and Mrs. Terpay attended the monthly ACL
