RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES
FOR COMMISSIONER APPOINTMENTS
RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame
as follows:
WHEREAS, it is the determination of this Council that
limitations should be established upon the number of consecutive
terms which may be served by members of commissions of the
City of Burlingame; and
WHEREAS, it is also the determination of this Council
that procedures should be established for the appointment of
members of City commissions;
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby RESOLVED AND DETERMINED
that the following procedures shall govern the appointment of
members of commissions of the City of Burlingame:
1. No commissioner shall be appointed to more than
two complete consecutive terms upon the same commission.
2. Term shall mean a period of years commencing on
the normal expiration of an incumbent's period of service.
3. The number of years in a term shall be as set
forth in the City ordinances or state laws at the time
of the term's commencement; this rule shall apply for
both appointees to full terms and to fill vacancies in
unexpired terms.
4. Appointments to fill an unexpired term shall
not be deerzed a term for purposes of the two term limita-
tion.

5. Any former commissioner, having become ineligible
for reappointment due to two consecutive terms of service
on the same commission, shall become eligible for appoint-
ment to that commission after the lapse of one year from
the termination of his last term; he shall be eligible
for appointment to any other commission at once.
6. Whenever possible appointment to the Planning
Commission shall be made at least three months prior to
the expiration of a term; appointees shall be encouraged
to attend all Commission hearings and shall be provided
all materials for commission meetings. They shall not,
however, participate as commissioners until the official
commencement of their terms.

do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was introduced
at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 19Th day
of November, 1979, and was adopted thereafter by the following
vote:
