RESOLUTION GRANTING VARIANCE..
INTERTELEPHON PROJECT
RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame, as follows:
WHEREAS, on May 9, 1980, an application was filed by Raiser
Architectural Group on behalf of INTEP,TELEPHON CORPORATION for, among other
things, a variance from parking requirements for a 127,000 square foot
building to be constructed at 700 Airport Boulevard, Burlingame, California
(APN 026-342-050, -060, -070, -100, -280); and
WHEREAS, on November 10, 1980, a public hearinn on said variance
application was held by the Planning Commission of the City of Burlingame,
and said application was denied by the Commission; and
I.dHEREAS, said denial was appealed in the manner provided by the
ordinances of the City of Burlingame and a hearing on said appeal was held
by this City Council on December 1, 1980;
NOi!, THEREFORE, it is hereby ORDERED AND DETERMINED:
1. That the action of the Planning Commission in denying said
variance is hereby reversed and said variance is hereby granted by this
Council, subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth.
2. As required by the ordinances of the City of Burlingame, the
following findings are made;
A. That there are exceptional and extraordinary circumstances
applicable to this property in that it appears this office building
will have a lesser Parking impact than reflected by the standards
set forth by the City ordinances for this district, and that a
denial of the application will result in an undue property loss.
B. That the variance will allow additional landscaping to be
installed upon the property, and therefore add to the preservation

and enjoyment of the property rights of the owner.
C, That because of the lessened narking impact of this type
of huilding, and the additional landscaping to be provided in lieu,
the granting of the variance will not be materially detrimental
to the public health, safety and welfare of the City or to the
quiet enjoyment of others.
D, The granting of this variance does not adversely affect
the comprehensive zoning plan of the City.
3. This variance is granted to allow a 10 percent reduction of
the requirements of the ordinances of the City of Burlingame, to wit, a
total requirement of 380 spaces, of which 20 percent may be for compact
vehicles.
n. This variance is granted subject to the specific conditions
that the area designated on EXHIBIT A attached hereto shall be landscaped
and that, if at any time the City determines that the peak weekday parking
demand equals or exceeds 95 percent of the available on -site parking, the
City may, after notice to the property owner and public hearing, require
that all or part of that area shall be converted to automobile parking with all
costs to be the responsibility of the property owner.
5, This resolution shall be recorded by the City Clerk with the
County Recorder of the County of San Mateo.

certify that the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council on the 15th day of December, 1980, and was adopted thereafter
by the following vote:
