HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 016-1980RESOLUTION NO.16 - 80 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING WORKERS' COMPENSATION COVERAGE FOR POLICE AND FIRE VOLUNEERS WHEREAS, the workers' compensation statutes of the State of California provide that persons performing voluntary services for a public agency without pay are deemed employees for workers' compensation purposes only upon adoption of an appropriate resolution by the public agency; and WHEREAS, it appears necessary and desirable that certain volunteers in the safety services of the City of Burlingame be covered by workers' compensation insurance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame that those persons providing volunteer services in the Police Department in a peace officer capacity and those persons performing volunteer services in the Fire Department for the specific purpose of fire suppression shall be deemed employees of the City of Burlingame for the purposes of the workers' compensation of the State of California. No other persons volunteering services to the City of Burlingame shall be deemed employees for such purposes. M yor I, EVELYN H.
