HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - LB - 1964.05.20 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD May 20, 1964 Due to lack of a quorum, the regular meeting of May 19th was postponed until May 20th at 10 AM. Trustees Present: DeMartini, Harrison, Moody. Trustees Absent: Cohendet,. Lynes. MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting of April 21, 1964, were read and approved. BILLS: On a motion by Mr. DeMartini, seconded by Mrs. Harrison, bills in the amount of $3,157.23 were ordered paid. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: The Librarian' s report was read and accepted. MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The financial statement was approved and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS: Parking. The Librarian reported that the city was negotiating for the old Donnelly house, and that as things stand at this time, the lot adjacent to the library and the Steinbeck lot were definitely in the Parking District. Budget. The Librarian reported that as yet there had been no action by the City Council in regard to a hearing on the budget. Library Borrowers Survey. The Librarian reported that due to the illness of Mrs. Fleming there had been no progress on the borrowers' survey but that Mrs. Smoody would carry through on the production of the necessary farms. MaJor Capital Improvements. Extension of Parking Underneath. The Librarian reported that a letter had been sent to the Planning Commission expressing some of the possible provisions for an extension. The Library Board stated that they would like a copy of this letter included with the minutes. Branch in the Millsdale Shopping Area. The Librarian reported that there had been some discussion of the possibilities and timing for a Branch in the Millsdale area. The consensus of the Board was that the project should be kept in mind but that active work on plans should be held up until the need, as shown by the building of additional residences in the area. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter from Mrs. Frank S. Erskine in regard to employment of ,police officer. The Librarian contacted Mrs. Erskine by telephone and stated our position to her satisfaction.
