OLD BUSINESS Children's Librarian The Librarian stated that as there have been no qualified applicants for the position of Children's Librarian, Mrs. Powell has agreed to be available as a consultant at 1/3 time. He stated that after considerable discussion with Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Bergsing, it was decided that the employment of a new graduate as a Librarian I (Junior Librarian) would serve our purposes, along with the consultive services of Mrs. Powell. Mrs. Powell would attend various community meetings, the PTA and other groups; supervise the activity of the Children's Room; and make available her extensive knowledge in story-telling and other related fields. The Librarian stated that he felt that this would be an excellent idea as there are not many people of her caliber available, and he felt that her enthusiasm would result in considerable more than 1/3 time being devoted to the Library. On a motion by Mr. Moody, seconded by Mr. Lynes, the Librarian was authorized to employ Mrs. Powell as consultant to the Children's Department at 1/3 time, to begin in the fall of 1965• Library Extension The Librarian stated that he had several talks with Colonel Norberg in regard to a plan for expanding the floor area of the Library. He stated that by the next meeting he would have a written program for study by the Board. On F motion by Mr. Moody, seconded by Mr. Lynes, the meeting was adjourned.
