HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - LB - 1966.04 20 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD April 20, 1966 Trustees Present: Mr. Lynes, Mr. DeMartini, Mr. Hechinger, Mr. Moody Trustees Absent: hors. Cohendet was excused as she is on a trip outside of the United States. Mr. DeMartini said that he did not receive his notice for the meeting of March 16, 1966, or he would have been in attendance. MINUTES The minutes of the meeting of March 16, 1966, were read and approved. BILLS On a motion by Trustee DeMartini, seconded by Trustee Moody, bills in the amount of n $3,199.95 were ordered paid. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT The Librarian's report was read and approved. MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT The monthly financial statement was read and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS Budget. The Librarian reported that the budget, as revised and approved by the Board, has been submitted to the City Manager. There was a brief discussion of the Librarian's salary differential with other department heads. On a motion by Trustee Moody, seconded by Trustee Hechinger, it was moved that the Secretary of the Board write to the city council, expressing their concern over the differential between the Librarian's and the Fire and Police Chiefs' salaries. NEW BUSINESS Capital Expenditure Budget. The Librarian stated that the letter submitted to the City Council requesting a decision on the planning request of last year in regard to the use of the lot next to the library for future library expansion, resulted in the Council instructing George Mann, Planning Commissioner, that it was the Council's intention that the lot was to be used for expansion of the library whenever such expansion had been provided for by the Council. The Librarian stated that he had submitted the revised capital expenditure request (Building Extension) to the Planning Commission. Branch. The Mills Estate Branch. After some discussion concerning a branch site in the Mills Estate, it was moved by Trustee DeMartini and seconded by Trustee Moody, that the Board contact George White, Superintendent of the Burlingame Elementary School District, relative to a possible branch site between the Intermediate School and Franklin Field on Quesada Way. Motion carried. The Librarian and Trustee Lynes stated that this site was much more desirable than the Franklin School site which had been set aside by the Elementary School Board. All present were concerned that the effort to acquire this site be as speedy as possible due to the consolida- tion of the District with the High School District.
