OF THE
BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
September 19, 1972
CALL TO ORDER:
A regular meeting of the Burlingame Library Board was held on the above given date.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Pro Tem Hechinger.
ROLL CALL:
Trustees Present: Trustee Hechinger, Trustee Lynes, Trustee DeMartini
Trustees Absent: Trustee Cohendet, family emergency.
Trustee Phelan, in hospital.
Also Present: Ms. Joyce Maguire, Journalist representing HILLSBOROUGH BOUTIQUE & VILLAGER
BILLS:
Warrants in the amount of $5,999.03 and checks from the Special Fund totaling $145.48
were ordered paid on a motion by Trustee Hechinger, seconded by Trustee DeMartini and carried.
MINUTES:
The minutes of the meeting of August 15, 1972, were approved and adopted.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
The Librarian's Report was read. Trustee Hechinger asked the Librarian to describe the new
films purchased by the Friends of the Library. The Librarian stated the films were recreational
Super 8 mm films.
Trustee Lynes asked the Librarian about the phonodisc players. The Librarian stated they
were light weight portable record players circulated to shut-ins. Trustee Hechinger asked
how the shut-in service was working. The Librarian stated that the Shut-In Service, headed
by Mary Lang, a library staff member, was doing very well. He stated that Friends of the Library
and volunteers, as well as Mrs. Lang, bring books and visit with people in convalescent homes
and private homes.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Trustees discussed the City Council Study Session held on September 12th regarding the
Library building and interior.
NEW BUSINESS:
Trustee DeMartini stated that he noticed several patrons not wearing foot apparel in the
library. He stated he was concerned with the possible health and safety hazards involved. After
some discussion it was decided that the matter would be tabled until all the Trustees were
present to discuss it, and the Librarian was asked to inquire about information regarding it.
ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further business, the meeting was then adjourned at 7:30 p.m. with the
next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th, 1972.
