BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
April 16, 1974
CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Burlingame Public Library Board was called to order by
Chairman DeMartini on the above given date at 7:40 P.M.
ROLL CALL:
Trustees Present: Trustee Cohendet, Trustee De Martini, Trustee Hechinger
Trustees Absent: Trustee Lynes
Trustee Phelan, excused, due to illness
Also Present: Mrs. Patricia Bergsing, Assistant City Librarian
BILLS:
On a motion by Trustee Cohendet, seconded by Trustee Hechinger and carried by those Trustees
present, warrants totaling $11,493.59 were ordered paid. Special Fund bills totaling $146.58-
were ordered paid on a motion by Trustee Hechinger, seconded by Trustee Cohendet and unanimously
carried by those Trustees present,
MINUTES:
Minutes of the meeting of March 19, 1974 were approved and ordered filed.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
The Librarian's Report was read and discussed.
CORRESPONDENCE:
A letter of appreciation was received from Ms. Franc Berry for the services she received during
her illness through our L.O.V.E. Program.
OLD BUSINESS:

Easton Drive Branch: The Librarian stated that the architect's report on expenses for the
project woulo be ready in a few days. He also stated that as soon as this report of expenses
was received, he would discuss it with the City Manager. Bids for painting have been obtained
but no decisions have yet been made.
NEW BUSINESS:
Letters of commendation will be drafted by Trustee Hechinger, Secretary of the Board, for
Mr. Seth Shapiro, Library Assistant, and Lieutenant Robert Quinn, of the Burlingame Police
Department, who were responsible for the return of books (valued at $250) charged out on a
lost card.
1974-1975 Tentative Budget: The Librarian presented the proposed budget to the Board members
present, The Trustees present and the Librarian discussed the budget. It was moved by
Trustee Hechinger that the tentative 1974-1975 Budget be submitted; Trustee Cohendet seconded
the motion and it was carried by those Trustees present.
Trustee Cohendet reminded the Board that the week of April 22nd to the 26th was National
Library Week. A schedule of the activities planned for this week was distributed to the Board
members present.
Also distributed to the Trustees present were announcements of the Friends of the Library Book
Sale to be held on May 3rd, 4th and 5th.
ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 P.M. with the next Board
meeting scheduled for May 21, 1974.
