OF THE
BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
JULY 16, 1974
CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Burlingame Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman
Pro Tem Hechinger on the above given date at 5tO5 P.M.
ROLL CALL:
Trustees Present: Trustee Cohendet, Trustee Hechinger, Trustee Lynes, Trustee Phelan
Trustees Absent: Trustee DeMartini, excused, personal business
Also Present: Mrs. Patricia M. Bergsing, Assistant City Librarian
Mrs. Dorothy Ezquerro, Library Assistant I
Ms. Linda Adreveno, Hillsborough Boutique/Villager
BILLS:
Warrants in the amount of $10,950.02 were paid on a motion by Trustee Lynes, seconded by
Trustee Phelan, and carried by those Trustees present. There were no Special Fund bills
paid this month.
MINUTES:
The minutes of the meeting of June 18, 1974, were approved and ordered filed.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
Trustee Lynes and Trustee Phelan visited the Children's Room prior to the meeting and com-
mented that the children have done very well in their projects. Trustee Cohendet was
interested in the planning and the theme of each year's program. Mrs. Bergsing explained
that Miss Joan Riordan, Children's Librarian and Mrs. Miriam Dunn, Branch Librarian, have
planned and coordinated each year's activities.
OLD BUSINESS:
Easton Drive Branch: The Librarian reported that the interior remodeling contracts will be
put up for bid within the week and hoped that we would be receiving good responses. He
hopes that by the next meeting all bids would be in and that the City Council would have
taken action.
NEW BUSINESS:
Election of Officers: Chairman Pro Tem Hechinger opened the floor for nominations for
officers oF the Board for 1974-1975.
Chairman: It was moved by Trustee Lynes, seconded by Trustee Phelan, and unanimously
carried by those Trustees present, that Trustee Hechinger assume the office of Chairman
of the Board.
Vice-Chairman/Secretary: Trustee Cohendet was elected to the office of Vice-Chairman/
Secretary on a motion by Trustee Phelan, seconded by Trustee Lynes, and unanimously
carried by those Trustees present.
Discussion was held as to the change in time for Library Board meetings. All Trustees
present expressed that 5:00 P.M. was very convenient for them.
On a motion by Trustee Cohendet, seconded by Trustee Phelan, and unanimously carried by
those Trustees present, the Library Board meeting time was changed from 7:30 P.M. to
5:00 P.M. to be held on the same third Tuesday of each month.
NEW BUSINESS: Continued
Mrs. Dorothy Ezquerro was introduced to the Board members by Mrs. Bergsing. Mrs. Ezquerro
is a full-time Library Assistant I, working in the Cataloging and Reference departments.
Trustee Lynes moved that Mrs. Dorothy Ezquerro be appointed to Civil Service status as of
July 1, 1974. The motion was seconded by Trustee Cohendet and unanimously carried by
those Trustees present.
ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:40 P.M. on a motion by
Trustee Cohendet, seconded by Trustee Lynes, with the next Board meeting scheduled for
August 20, 1974.
