HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - LB - 1974.10.15 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD October 15, 1974 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the Burlingame Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Hechinger on the above given date at 5:08 P.M. ROLL CALL: Trustees Present: Trustee Cohendet, Trustee Hechinger, Trustee Lynes, Trustee Phelan Trustees Absent: Trustee De Martini, excused, business trip Also Present: Mrs. Patricia M.,Bergsing, Assistant City Librarian Mr. Roy Scarbrough, Journalist, Millbrae Leader BILLS: Warrants in the amount of $6,836.71 were paid on a motion by Trustee Lynes, seconded by Trustee Phelan, and carried. Special Fund bills totaling $254.40 were paid on a motion by Trustee Phelan, seconded by Trustee Cohendet, and carried. MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting of September 17, 1974, were approved and ordered filed. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: Mrs. Bergsing explained the Cooperative Information Network Telephone Call Reimbursement Porgram. This is an experimental program in which three PLS/CIN libraries have been selected to participate for nine minths. All CIN-related telephone calls made within California will be posted on,a statistical form and submitted to CIN monthly for reimbursement. Results of the Library Borrowers Survey were distributed to the Trustees. The statistics were reviewed and discussed. CORRESPONDENCE: A beautiful letter from Miss Hannah Shields, 807 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo, was received by Chairman Hechinger. Miss Shields expressed her appreciation for the service, courtesy and quality of competence shown to her by the library staff. The Trustees commented that such a letter reflected the City Librarian wi.th the highest regard. OLD BUSINESS: Easton Drive Branch: The Librarian reported that we are still awaiting the arrival of the rug and new furniture. Mrs. Bergsing reported that she and Mrs. Dunn spoke with Mr. Dale Perkins, art coordinator for the Burlingame Elementary Schools, regarding children's artwork for the Branch meeting room and Lion's Den. Mr. Lechich also stated that Ace Roofing Company would be starting on the roof tomorrow. Due to the lack of funds, the lower portion of the roof will be charged to the library's maintenance budget. NEW BUSINESS: Fall Book Sale: The Friends of the Library will hold their Fall Book Sale this weekend, October 19th and 20th. The Champagne Preview will be held on Friday evening, October 18th, at 7:00 P.M. Mrs. Bergsing stated that Mrs. Juliette Lenkert, Book Sale Chairman, and the Book Sale Committee have been working very hard preparing for the sale and suggested that a special thank-you from the Board would be appropriate. Trustee Lynes moved that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mrs. Lenkert by the Secretary of the Board. ADJOURNMENT: As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:43 P.M. on a motion by Trustee Lynes, seconded by Trustee Cohendet, with the next Board meeting scheduled for November 192 1974.
