WHERE -AS: The City of Burlingame on . uzust 20, 1940,
entered into one agreement with L..^rata Carbaoe Corr -any, and
Burli.n�ame Garbage Company, both co-nartnershiA herein
desip-nated as the contractor, to gather and haul away dry
refuse, rubbish and garden cuttings for a period of five years,
commencing July 1, 1940, for the sum of 325.00 ner month; and
u`a- on June 1, 1942, due to unusual demands made
upon the contractor, the amount of monthly compensation was
increased to :P"375.00, and;
WHEREAS, it now appears that due to prevailinp, condi-
tions over which neither party has an, control, the contractor
is now performing° under said contracts at an actual financial
loss; and
i'JHERES, the matter was brought to the attention of the
City Council which was desirous oi= continuing the service but
not at a sacrifice and loss to the contractor, and
pEEREaS, as provision was made in 1944-45 Budzet for an
additional amount to be paid to the contractor,
NO: , `—11-ER.EFORE, BL] IT RESOLVED, the amount of the month-
ly comnensation to be paid to the contractor be, and the same is
hereby increased by the sum of 225.00 monthly; and the City
Treasurer is hereby authorized to ray to the said contractor the
sum of �600.00 per month, retroactive as of November 1, 1944,
and continue the same to July 1, 1945.
The forezoing Resolution was introduced at a re~ular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Burlin�-ari.e held on
