RESOLUTION CONCERNING CONTINUED ACTIVI-
TIES IN SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL
WHEREAS, the agencies served by BROWNING-FERRIS INDUSTRIES have in
the past used the Marsh Road landfill; and
and
WHEREAS, the Marsh Road landfill will be closed in September, 1981;
WHEREAS, the solid waste from the Bayside will have to be disposed
at the Ox Mountain Landfill near Half Moon Bay; and
WHEREAS, consistent with the County Solid Waste Plaster Plan, a solid
waste transfer station has been proposed; and
WHEREAS, the agencies which are served by Browning -Ferris Industries
recommend that such a transfer station be built; and
WHEREAS, Browning -Ferris Industries has indicated a willingness to
build and operate such a transfer station;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Burlingame that it hereby expresses its intention to require the firm awarded
its franchised solid waste collector to use the proposed transfer station
for a period of time necessary to amortize the cost of said transfer station;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Burlingame agrees with the concept of a joint powers authority which will be
empowered to contract for the disposal of solid wastes collected by their
franchised solid waste collector to act as an advisor to the agencies which
set the rates of solid waste disposal, and to perform related duties authorized
by the Joint Powers Authority Agreement.

certify that the foregoing Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of
the Burlingame City Council held on the 6th day of April, 1981, and was
adopted thereafter by the following vote:
