HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - LB - 1975.10.21 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD October 21, 1975 CALL TO ORDER: The meeting of the Burlingame Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Cohendet at 5:00 P.M. on the above given date. ROLL CALL: Trustees Present: Trustee Cohendet, Trustee DeMartini, Trustee Hechinger, Trustee Lynes, Trustee Phelan Trustees Absent: None Also Present: Mrs. Patricia M. Bergsing, Assistant City Librarian BILLS: Warrants totaling $8,312.67 were ordered paid on a motion by Trustee Lynes, seconded by Trustee Phelan. Special Fund bills in the amount of $275.34 were paid on a motion by Trustee DeMartini, seconded by Trustee Phelan, and carried. MINUTES: Minutes of the meeting of September 16, 1975 were approved and ordered filed. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: Some discussion was held on the increased circulation of both libraries. The activities of the Children's Department were of special interest. CORRESPONDENCE: None OLD BUSINESS: Raise in Non-Resident Fees and Overdue Fines: The Librarian reported that the raise in non- resident fees to $50 per family per year was on the October 21, 1975 agenda of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. He also stated that a $20 non-resident student fee was derived from averaging the rate per person. These fees are to go into effect starting November 1, 1975. The raise in overdue fines have not been settled to date. Air Conditioning: Trustee DeMartini asked if the $300 allocated to review the air conditioning system of the library had been put to use. The Librarian reported that an appointment is being made with the technician whom he feel can do the job competently. NEW BUSINESS: Mrs. Patricia Bergsing -- Metropolitan Library System Workshop, Sponsored by the Library Council of Greater Cleveland: The Board was informed that Mrs. Patricia Bergsing, Assistant City Librarian,' had been invited to speak at the Metropolitan Library System Workshop in Cleveland Ohio. On a motion by Trustee DeMartini, Mrs. Bergsing was given up to four days for this trip. The motion was seconded by Trustee Hechinger and carried. r NEW BUSINESS: Continued Friends of the Library Booksale: The Fall Book Sale that was held on October 17th, 18 19th was very successful. Approximately $2700 was reported to be made on the sale. A fifty people attended the Pot Luck Supper at which Mr. Chet England, President of the showed slides of his trip on the Trans Siberian Railroad.
