BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MINUTES
March 15, 1977
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting of the Burlingame Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order
by Chairman Lynes at 5:00 P.M. on March 15, 1977.
ROLL CALL:
Trustees Present: Trustee Cohendet, Trustee DeMartini , Trustee Hechinger, Trustee
Lynes, Trustee Phelan
Trustees Absent: None
Also Present: Mrs. Patricia M. Bergsing, Assistant City Librarian
Mrs. Juliette Lenkert, Friends of the Library
BILLS:
Warrants totaling $10,677.63 were paid on a motion by Trustee DeMartini , seconded
by Trustee Phelan, and unanimously carried. Special Fund bills in the amount of
$1 ,376.97 were ordered paid on a motion by Trustee DeMartini , seconded by Trustee
Phelan, and carried.
MINUTES:
Minutes of the meeting of February 15, 1977 were approved as mailed.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
The Librarian's Report was read and discussed.
OLD BUSINESS:
Hillsborough Library: The Librarian discussed a letter regarding a proposed plan
based on the agreement presently in effect between the City of Piedmont and the City
of Oakland. This letter was prepared by Hillsborough's City Manager, Mr. Davidson.
Librarian Lechich stated that both Burlingame and San Mateo do not agree with this
plan and talks will continue.
Book Security System: It was reported that more research on the various systems
is still being done.
Remodeling of California and Board Rooms: Mrs. Bergsing asked Mrs. Lenkert to bring
the Board up to date on tentative plans for the rooms. Mrs. Lenkert has been working
very hard in acquiring numerous estimates for the work outlined. Some of the items
discussed were new rugs, shutters on the windows , new furniture, and new light fixtures.
Chairman Lynes commended Mrs. Lenkert and the Friends of the Library for their hard
�- work in implementing this project.

NEW BUSINESS:
Mrs. Patricia M. Bergsing appointed by City Manager to position of City Librarian as
of May 1 , 1977: Chairman Lynes lead the Board in congratulations to Mrs. Bergsing
on her recent appointment.
Mr. James Kaufman -- Civil service appointment by City Manager to position of Custodian
as of March 1 , 1977: The Librarian reported that Mr. Kaufman has been doing extremely
well and that he was very pleased with his work.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 P.M. with the next meeting 'scheduled for April 19,
_1977.
