HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 057-2009RESOLUTION NO. 57-2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME AFFIRMING CITY,S PROVISION OF RETIREE MEDICAL BENEFITS TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS WHEREAS, as authorized by Government Codes sections 53201 et seq., the City of Burlingame has for many years provided to its City Council members the same retiree health benefits that it provides to its miscellaneous employees; and, WHEREAS, in early 2008, the City Council approved a reduction in retiree health benefits for all of the City, s miscellaneous employees hired after March 31, 2008; and WHEREAS, the Council intended that the same reduction in retiree health benefits also be applied to all Council members elected after March 31, 2008; and WHEREAS, though it has never done so in the past, the City desires to formalize in writing that the retiree health benefits which it provides to its miscellaneous employees shall be the same retiree health benefits which the City provides to its Council members; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 1) The City Council finds that all of the facts recited above and in the accompanying staff report are true and correct. 2) The City Council reaffirms that the retiree health benefits received by City Council members are, and shall continue to be, the same retiree health benefits which the City provides to its miscellaneous employees. 4SAr�� I, Mary Ellen Kearney, City Clerk of the City of Burlingame, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Burlingame City Council held on the 15`h day of June, 2009, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers BAYLOCK, DEAL, NAGEL, WMARONY NOES: Councilmembers: NONE ABSENT: Councilmembers: KEIGRRAN C Mary Ellen Kearney, City Clerk
