RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
APPROVING CLOSURE OF BURLINGAME AVENUE BETWEEN
CALIFORNIA DRIVE AND EL CAMINO REAL AND PORTIONS OF LORTON
AVENUE, PRIMROSE RAOD AND PARK ROAD FOR THE 2010
BURLINGAME ARTZFEST EVENT ON AUGUST 7 AND S, 2010
WHEREAS, in past years, the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce has
sponsored, in the Burlingame Avenue area of downtown Burlingame, the Burlingame
Artzfest, a street fair offering gourmet foods and home & garden displays; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce has requested permission from the City
to close certain streets in the City's downtown on Saturday August 7' and Sunday
August 8a' to accommodate the 2010 Burlingame Artzfest; and.
WHEREAS, the Artzfest is an wonderful celebratory community event
benefitting the City and the citizens of Burlingame; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce has contracted with an event organizer,
TeamProEvents, to produce, coordinate_ and mange the two-day Artzfest; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce, or its designee, will pay any and all
costs associated with the event (including cost of street closures, traffic control and clean-
up), will provide insurance and indemnification to the City and will provide a traffic
control plan in connection with Artzfest; and
WHEREAS, the City Traffic Engineer will review and approve the traffic control
plan if he finds that it is acceptable;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BURLINGAME DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council approves the closure of the following streets from 2:00 AM
Saturday, August 7, 2010 until 11:59 PM Sunday, August 8, 2010:
a. Burlingame Avenue from California Drive to El Camino Real;
b. Lorton Avenue from Donnelly Drive to Howard Avenue;
C. Park Road from Burlingame Avenue to Howard Avenue;
d. Primrose Road from Chapin Avenue to Howard Avenue.
2. Further, the City Council directs that the Chamber of Commerce, or its
designee, prepare and submit to the City a traffic control plan in connection with the
Artzfest event; the traffic control plan shall be reviewed and approved by the City Traffic
Engineer; all costs associated with the implementation and management of the traffic
control plan shall be the responsibility of the Chamber of Commerce or its designee.
3. Further, the City Council's approval of the street closure for the Artzfest event
is specifically conditioned upon the following:
a. The Chamber of Commerce shall obtain all required permits from
appropriate City departments and all other governmental agencies;
b. The Chamber of Commerce shall provide and maintain necessary
certificates of insurance and endorsements naming the City as an additional
insured and shall hold the City harmless against any liability and/or cost arising
from any aspect of the Artzfest event;
c. The Chamber of Commerce, or its designee, shall notify all affected
residents and businesses in the greater downtown area of the schedule, dates and
times of the Artzfest event;
d. The Chamber of Commerce, or its designee, must ensure that the
traffic control plan is implemented and complied with, at it sole cost; any changes
to the traffic control plan must be reviewed and approved by the City traffic
engineer in advance.

that the foregoing Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the Burlingame City
Council held on the 3rd day of May, 2010, and was adopted thereafter by the following
vote
AYES: Councilmembers: BAYLOCK, BROWNRIGG, DEAL, KEIGHRAN, NAGEL
NOES: Councihnembers: NONE
