HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 020-2010RESOLUTION NO. 20-2w o RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME APPROVING A STREET CLOSURE FOR THE FIRST BLOCK OF CAPUCHINO AND A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN IN CONNCETION WITH THE BURLINGAME IDOL EVENT WHEREAS, in July 2008, the City issued an encroachment permit to the Chamber of Commerce for a farmer's market event along the first block of Capuchino Avenue north of Broadway; in connection with that event, a traffic control plan was developed for the closure of Capuchino Avenue during the event; and WHEREAS, prior to the event, adjacent residents and businesses were notified of the farmers market event; and WHEREAS, due to the success of using this portion of Capucbino Avenue for the farmer's market event, the Chamber of Commerce is now requesting City approval to use the same section of roadway for a Burlingame Idol singing and music event which would be scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 11AM to 11PM; WHEREAS, the City Traffic Engineer has reviewed the traffic control plan and finds that it is acceptable; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: 1. The City Council approves and authorizes the closure of the first block of Capuchino off of Broadway on Saturday May 22, 2010, between the hours of 10 AM and 11:59 PM for the Burlingame Idol music event. 2. Further, the City Council approves the traffic control plan prepared in connection with the Burlingame Idol music event occurring in the first block of Capuchino off Broadway on Saturday May 22, 2010. 3. Further, the City Council's approval of the street closure is specifically conditioned upon the following: a. The Chamber of Commerce shall obtain all required permits from appropriate City departments and all other governmental agencies; b. The Chamber shall provide and maintain necessary certificates of insurance and endorsements naming the City as an additional insured and shall hold the City harmless against any liability and/or cost arising from any aspect of the event; c. The Chamber shall notify all affected residents and businesses in the area no less than 48 hours prior to the day of the event; d. The Chamber must ensure that the traffic control plan is implemented and complied with; any changes to the traffic control plan must be reviewed and approved by the City traffic engineer in advance.
