HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 031-2011RESOLUTION NO. 11-20 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME APPROVING AN URBAN WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE CITY OF BURLINGAME WHEREAS, The Urban Water Management Planning Act (Act) requires water suppliers to prepare or update their Urban Water Management Plans (UWMps) and submit a complete UWMP to the State of California Department of Water Resources every five years; and WHEREAS, Burlingame's last UWMP was prepared in 2005 and the updated UWMP must be adopted by resolution prior to June 30, 2011; and WHEREAS, UWMPs are planning documents prepared for water suppliers to assist them in the evaluation of adequate water supplies to meet anticipated future needs and to assist them in managing the efficient use of water within their service area; and WHEREAS, in compliance with The Water Conservation Act of 2009 (requires that cities set per capita urban water use targets to be achieved in 2015 and 2020 with the goal of a state-wide reduction in per -capita water consumption of 20% by the year 2020), the City's draft UWMP establishes per capita urban water use targets and the proposed methods to achieve the water use targets for the City; and WHEREAS, as required by the Water Conservation Act of 2009, the City must conduct a public hearing regarding the Urban Water Management Plan before the City adopts said Plan; and WHEREAS, Burlingame's draft UWMP has been prepared by Erler & Kalinowski, Inc in accordance with the Act and in cooperation with the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA), the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, and the BAWSCA member agencies; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the Act and other State Laws the City has notified the public of the preparation of the draft UWMP and has made the document available for public review; and WHEREAS, as of May 10, 2011, the City has not received any public or agency comments on the draft UWMP; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: 1. The City Council of the City of Burlingame finds all of the facts recited above, in the staff report and during the presentation of this matter, to be true and correct. 2.
