HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 007-2011RESOLUTION NO. 7-2011 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT AMONG THE CITY/COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS OF SAN MATEO COUNTY (C/CAG), THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND THE CITY OF BURLINGAME FOR THE OWNERSHIP, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS OF THE SAN MATEO SMART CORRIDORS PROJECT WHEREAS, C/CAG is the sponsor agency in San Mateo County for the development and implementation of the Smart Corridors Project; the objective of this Project is to design, install, maintain and operate signal interconnections along City streets within San Mateo County cities for the purpose of ensuring the flow of detoured traffic on City streets in the event of a closure of US Highway 101; and WHEREAS, C/CAG seeks to execute an agreement with the County of San Mateo and with stakeholder Cities that outlines and defines the roles, responsibilities, terms, and conditions for the ownership, operation, and maintenance of equipment and components that are incorporated and integrated into the San Mateo County Smart Corridors Project; and WHEREAS, each stakeholder City will enter into a separate agreement with C/CAG and the County for the ownership, maintenance, and operation of Smart Corridors specific equipment located within their respective jurisdictional boundaries; and WHEREAS, the Cities of Belmont, San Mateo, Burlingame, San Carlos, Redwood City, Millbrae, San Bruno and the County of San Mateo have worked with C/CAG to finalize the Ownership, Operations, and Maintenance Agreement; and WHEREAS, additional agreements between the City of Burlingame, Caltrans and possibly other Cities, may be developed for specific operation of the Smart Corridors equipment located in the City's limits during major traffic incidents; and follows: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Burlingame as 1. All of the facts recited above and in the accompanying staff report are true and correct. 2. The City Council hereby approves and authorizes the Director of Public Works to execute the Ownership, Operations, and Maintenance Agreement between the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County, the County of San Mateo and the City of Burlingame for the San Mateo County Smart Corridors Project, in a form as attached and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A".
