RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENTS WITH HANNA GROUP, INC., AND
WITH SCHAAF & WHEELER, INC. FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE MARSTEN STORMWATER PUMP STATION
REHABILITATION PROJECT, CITY PROJECT NO 82460
WHEREAS, the Easton Creek watershed drainage improvement project ("Project"
herein) is being constructed to alleviate chronic flooding in the Easton Creek watershed
area; and
WHEREAS, the final project phase of the Project consists of the reconstruction of
Marsten pump station; and
WHEREAS, on November 21, 2011, the City Council awarded a construction
contract to Anderson Pacific Engineering Construction, Inc. for the Marsten Stormwater
Pump Station Rehabilitation Project and the work is scheduled to begin in January 2012;
and
WHEREAS, Public Works staff has determined that construction of the Project will
require professional construction management services and construction engineering
services; and
WHEREAS, Public Works staff received four proposals for construction
management services and, after review, selected Hanna Group because of their extensive
experience in providing construction management services and their successful
performance on similar work for the City in the past; and
WHEREAS, Public Works staff selected Schaaf & Wheeler Engineering
Consultants, Inc. to provide construction engineering services because they had completed
the original design as well as the redesign, of the Project and are, accordingly, intimately
familiar with the engineering specifics of the Project; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BURLINGAME RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council hereby approves and authorizes the City Manager to execute an
agreement for construction management services with Hanna Group, Inc. in an amount not
to exceed $320,500.00, in the form attached to the staff report.
2. The City Council hereby approves and authorizes the City Manager to execute an
agreement for construction engineering services with. Schaaf & Wheeler Engineering
Consultants, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $221,990.00, in the form attached to the staff
report.
I, Mary Ellen Kearney, City Clerk of the City of Burlingame do hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 3rd day of
January, 2012, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers: BAYLOCK, BROWNRIGG, DEAL, KEIGBRAN, NAGEL
NOES: Councilmembers: NONE
