WHEREAS, on March 17, 2014, the City Council authorized an invitation for bid proposals for
CITY PROJECT 83320, CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR BURLINGAME PUBLIC LIBRARY
REMODEL PROJECT: and
WHEREAS, on JUNE 4, 2014, all bid proposals were received and opened before the City
Clerk and representatives of the Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS, the City received a total of four bid proposals, with base bids ranging from
$1,659,000 to $2,017,000; and
WHEREAS, ZOLMAN CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT, INC. submitted the lowest
responsible base bid for the project, in the amount of $1,659,000; and
WHEREAS, due to favorable base bid prices, the City desires to include the additive
alternate bid for interior way finding signage in the amount of $85,000, thus raising the contract
award amount to $1,744,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED, and it is hereby ORDERED, that the Plans and
Specifications for the Burlingame Public Library Remodel Project, Project # 83320, including all
addenda, are approved and adopted; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the bid of ZOLMAN CONSTRUCTION AND
DEVELOPMENT, INC. for said project in the amount of $1,744,000, is accepted; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THERETO that a contract be entered into between the
successful bidder hereinabove referred to and the City of Burlingame for the performance of said
work, and that the City Manager be, and hereby is, authorized for and on behalf of the City of
Burlingame to execute said contract and to approve the faithful performance bond and the labor
materials bond required to be furnished by the conyactor. _
