RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
SUPPORTING THE SAN MATEO COUNTY GET ON THE GO GRANT
APPLICATION
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame:
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Transit District, San Mateo County Health, C/CAG,
and the San Mateo County Safe Routes to School program recently began collaborating on an
Active Transportation Grant that they will submit to Caltrans; and
WHEREAS, the grant -writing team is focusing on a high -need community along a transit
corridor that has historically low ridership; and
WHEREAS, they would like identify what the barriers are to accessing transit and active
transportation; and
WHEREAS, with this data, the team would then develop a community education kit for
school children and seniors to increase transit ridership, walking, and biking in the communities;
and
WHEREAS, the team has identified portions of the communities of San Bruno, Millbrae,
and Burlingame, specifically an area from Tanforan to Burlingame High School, as an area of
high need and historically low transit ridership; and
WHEREAS, to strengthen their grant application, they are seeking letters of support from
the relevant jurisdictions.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE THAT:
The City of Burlingame supports the San Mateo County Get on the Go grant application and
and authorizes the Mayor to send a letter of support to Caltrans.
